Gladys E. Hernández de Bravo

There are vocations which appear very early. gladys Elizabeth de Bravo was born for the teaching profession. "Bogotana", daughter of don Carlos Roberto Hernández Almanza and educator María Bocanegra de Hernández, she was shaped under her mother´s tutelage and the teachings received during her years at the National Pedagogical Institute. She belongs to the OMEP (Word Organization of Preschool Education) for which she often travels to attend congresses, workshops, etc. in different countries such as Poland, France, Germany, England, etc. She believes in the importance of belonging to organizations whose contributions to education are recognized internationally. Her continuous readings and nearness to great contemporary pedagogues like Montessori. Decroly, Piaget, Claparede and especially John Dewey, caused her to discover the affinities with her own thinking. This thinking has motivated her teaching routine for more than 30 years, becoming a catalyst for new educational trends.
